Event Details

Across the Table is making its second stop due to popular demand at the delicious Army & Lou's, the oldest black owned restaurant in the midwest. We'll enjoy a very unvegetarian dinner of fried chicken, collard greens, corn bread and more.

The topic of conversation is: What does it mean to be both an insider and an outsider? What are the experiences we've had in both of these circumstances?

To read more about Army and Lou's, go to: www.armyandlous.com

Just so you know, this will not be a vegetarian meal.

The menu for the evening will be:

mixed greens salad
biscuits
baked chicken
fried chicken
collard greens
sweet potatoes
choice of apple or peach cobbler, or sweet potato pie

For more details on each dish and more info. on the restaurant,

Hosted By

Across the Table

Across the Table is a non-profit which breaks down race and socio-economic barriers by uniting Chicagoans to share meals and dynamic conversation in order to lead to an understanding and appreciation of participants’ differences and common experiences.

Across the Table’s participants enjoy dinners that take place throughout the city of Chicago at ethnically diverse restaurants, community organizations, businesses and cooking schools. Each dinner group is limited to ten people and includes a trained volunteer who will guide and facilitate the discussion. Each dinner will be focused around a specific topic for discussion, but expanding beyond the initial discussion topic is welcomed.
